Kristi Ann Sanidad. Lighting Design: Bamboo Lantern. 497 x 662. 2011.
For the Lighting Project, architecture|design majors were assigned to design and create a light for a specific space or purpose. I designed and created a bamboo lantern with the purpose of serving as a hallway light for my house to light a way and not disturb occupants or family members with a harsh, blinding light. The lantern is made from household items such as: red & pink striped tissue paper, cut-out material from a weaved bamboo basket, cut-out sushi rolling mats, wrapping plastic, and cut-out pipes of bamboo. It creates a theatrical but calm lighting in a shade of red. The bamboo lantern serves as a creative piece and home lighting.

Kristi Ann Sanidad. Individual Project 1103..YMD: Elemental Tarots. 497 x 620. 2011.
For this semester, architecture|design majors work again on their own individual projects that is due at the end of the semester. For my individual project this time around, I’ve called it the, Elemental Tarots, which is another component of graphic design with the concept of tarot cards. I focused on creating a design that would consist of the four natural elements(i.e. water, fire, air, earth) that have been modernized by giving each design a pop style with basic primary colors. The compass is said to be connected with tarot cards through symbolism which is incorporated in each design component. For each Elemental Tarot card, located in the center, is a symbol from the original tarot suit which represents that element. The purpose of this project is to further explore my skills and improve them by understanding the concept of a theme and analyzing its meaning, history, and perception.

An example: Earth-> Green-> North Direction-> Suit of Pentacles|Suit of Coins

Kristi Ann Sanidad. Junior Midterm: LockerBoard. 497 x 248. 2010.
For my junior midterm, architecture|design student majors were assigned to create a proposal to improve the problems or disadvantages that are in AACT. I’ve decided to propose the idea of having a LockerBoard. It serves the purpose of being used as a blackboard that would consist of sections for events, homework, messages, schedule of the day, etc. Also, students will be able to display their creative style by designing their own LockerBoard design on the face of their locker. Students are then encouraged to use their LockerBoard and become more organized learners. Dry-Erase markers are used on the LockerBoard. Above, is a layout of my presentation board.

Kristi Ann Sanidad. Design Problem: 101221YMD White Tiger. 497 x 364. 2010.
For this week’s design problem, architecture|design majors were instructed to choose a another natural product(not man-made) and explore it through conceptual and figurative concepts. I chose the White Tiger which is a.k.a. the bengal tiger. Conceptually, I was exploring the different parts of the white tiger such as, the tiger’s eye and paw. Figuratively, I took the white tiger’s name literally and did a sketch of a white tiger lily. Looking at the white tiger’s fur pattern, I sketched a zebra butterfly that has a similar pattern with the bengal tiger’s fur.

Kristi Ann Sanidad. Design Problem: 101214YMD Dragon Fruit. 497 x 372. 2010.
For this week’s design problem, architecture|design majors were instructed to choose a natural object(not man-made) and explore it through conceptual and figurative concepts. I chose a Dragon Fruit which is a.k.a. the ‘Lady of the Night‘ or pitaya. Conceptually, I was exploring the different sections of the dragon fruit like the rind and when the fruit is sliced in half. Figuratively, I explored the dragon fruit by comparing it with the forms and shapes of other objects or animal: like the pineapple, grenade, or koi fish.

Kristi Ann Sanidad. Abstract: FujiFilm Mini 7s Polaroid Camera. 497 x 662. 2010.
One of my sketched pen drawings. I drew my white Fujifilm Mini 7s polaroid camera in an abstract layout. In the design, I laid out the different perspectives of the polaroid camera and put it together to create an abstract design. This design was just something for fun.

Kristi Ann Sanidad. Abstract: Retro Head. 497 x 662. 2010.
One of my sketched self works. On my own time, I started out with sketching a person. During the process I became inspired by abstract forms along with retro art. I drew out a a headshot of teenager wearing glasses. I thought that it would be fun if I didn’t draw anything above the glasses. From there, I just drew a star and stripes within the lenses of the glasses. Lastly, I drew streams heading down and rays that reached out of the paper.
